A Coastal Retreat with a Scandinavian Influence
Perched above the Strait of Georgia, on the rugged BC coastline, this Sunshine Coast getaway is equal parts bold and serene. Think strong steel beams and soaring, white-washed fir ceilings balanced by soft, Scandinavian-inspired interiors. The palette—light ash, pale blues, greys, and rust tones—pulls straight from the forest and shoreline just outside the windows. Durable finishes and thoughtful details make it the kind of place that feels effortless, whether you’re entertaining or simply unwinding.
Come inside for a tour of this custom built modern coastal escape—it’s a breath of fresh air.

The home’s main entrance serves as a dramatic threshold, bridging the wings of the house with a framed ocean view beyond. Stephanie and team collaborated with OC Architecture to carefully curate and merge the materiality and details from outside, in—charcoal-stained wood and natural textures create a moment of quiet pause. Step through, and the space opens up in a striking contrast—soaring windows and dramatic volumes unfolding ahead.

Upon entering the soaring Great Room, you're welcomed by light. Large windows draw your gaze toward the horizon, while pale blues and soft greys set a calm tone. The exposed steel elements–subtle yet striking–remind you that this is a home built to stand proudly in its landscape.

Sunlight filters through generous windows, casting a soft glow across pale ash panelling and Scandinavian-inspired furnishings. Anchored by bold steel columns and the monumental stone fireplace, the open concept living and dining areas feel both grounded and effortless—where modern architectural drama meets calm, everyday living.

At the heart of the home, the kitchen strikes a balance between minimal beauty and functionality. Light ash cabinetry and durable finishes are elevated by thoughtful detailing—every corner feels seamless, every surface practical yet beautiful. This is a space designed for gathering, where entertaining flows as naturally as the tides.

In the soft hush of the private quarters, a palette of neutrals, blues, and rust-tones echo the surrounding landscape. Natural materials—like light wood overhead—offer warmth. Here, clean lines and layered textures create a serene, restorative retreat.

Throughout the home, the design blurs the line between inside and out. Expansive windows frame endless forest and sea views, while natural tones within mirror the landscape beyond. Morning coffee, evening sunsets, or simply watching the water shift throughout the day—the architecture makes every moment feel seamlessly connected to nature.
